House of bricks
This week we had to make a post on when house of bricks came. here it is!
My favourite Lego activity was the car racing, because I learnt lots of tips and tricks on how to make fast Lego cars, and now I can make quick cars at home.
My least favourite Lego activity was the Kaupeka activity, because on the pass-it-along activity, my car came back exactly the same, and we didn’t get much free time.
The activity that tested my perseverance the most was the mosaic because I don’t usually make patterns out of Lego, and this was something new.
The most challenging activity was the car racing because I wasn’t very good at making lego cars and I didn’t want to copy anyone.
I did not enjoy working collaboratively with others because I wanted everything my way, and my partners seemed to get annoyed with me at times.
I hope you enjoyed it! Bye

Cool Candy!
Good Morning Bloggers!
This Week we have been saying reasons why we should have candy at school. here is my writing.
Do you like coming to school, and opening your lunchbox to see ALL of your friends have chocolate biscuits, and muffins and you have FRUIT?
NO. Yes, fruit is healthy for you, blah blah blah. But everyone loves treats!
I think us kids deserve at least ONE sugar-filled goodie in our lunches every day! And if not every day, then at least on fridays.
I think we should be allowed lollies at school because they give us energy, and they taste AWESOME!
This is what my mum lets me and Pippa have in our lunches every day:
3 pieces of fruit
1-2 sandwiches
Yoghurt
Cheese
2 treats
And on Fridays, chips.
I hope you enjoyed my blog, and stay tuned for my next post!

Marvelous Margaret Mahy
Hello, bloggers! this is a recount of the last time I went to Margaret Mahy playground, hope you enjoy!
Yesterday, my hub, Tumu Hub, went to Margaret Mahy playground to do these things: first we went on the waka, then we went to visit Victoria square, then we went to play on the playground itself and learn about the story behind the playground, and then we went to feed the eels.
My favourite part of the trip was the activity with Mrs Carney, because I only ever WALKED on those paths inside the playground- I never knew there were STORIES hidden inside them.
Something I learnt was the commands you have to do on the waka. The waka wasn’t there last time I came, so that was something new.
The thing I found the most interesting was the mats all around the city- I don’t know how, but I've been to the city HEAPS and I have never noticed them.
This trip has helped me with my PBL because I was very impressed with all the cool secrets hidden behind our city, and now I think our school would look really cool with a Pou, stories hidden around our school about Ngai Tahu migration, or maybe even some of the mats from around the city.
Next time you go to Margaret Mahy, why don't YOU try to make a recount of it?
See you soon!

easter facts
in my class, tumu hub we have started learning about easter. these are some facts. Sometimes it comes at the end of March; other years it happens in late april. In 2021, easter is on sunday 4 april. For it to come any later than it was in 2019 (21 april) you’ll have to wait until 2038. easter is always on the first sunday after the first full moon that follows the spring equinox. But this full moon is an ecclesiastical full moon (ecclesiastical means ‘of the Church’), and so wasn't calculated in quite the same way modern astronomers would.
On top of that, for the purpose of calculating easter, the spring equinox is always on 21 march.
So there you go – this year, the first full moon after the 21 March is Sunday 28 march, hence why easter is on Sunday 4 april. that was most of my learning about easter and i hope you enjoyed it.

MY UNDERSTANDING OF ROUNDING AND COMPENSATING IN TIDY NUMBERS BY BOSTON
Hi, welcome to my blog. This week we have been learning a new strategy in maths. We have been learning how to solve subtraction problems by using rounding and compensating and knowledge about tidy numbers. Here are some examples. i didnt know what on EARTH these meant at the beggining, but now im a master. have you ever done tidy numbers? if not, you should, because i really enjoyed it.
+1
269 - 199 = 269 - 200 +1
=70
+3
337 - 97 = 337 - 100 + 3
= 240
+3
672 - 297 = 672 - 300 + 3
= 575
i also made a google slide about it with some more examples. scroll down to see the link.

st patricks day
It is celebrated on the 17th of March.
St Patrick was born in great Britain, around 385 AD.
He was kidnapped at the age of 16 and brought to Ireland to work on a sheep farm.
He escaped back to Britain six years later to join a monastery.
After spending 15 years there, he was renamed Patrick.
He returned to Ireland to spread Christianity.
He later became saint of Ireland.
Now we celebrate st Patrick's day.
It is said that if you catch a Leprechaun, he will have to give you his pot of gold.
Leprechauns are Fairies.
